Large Capacity Cargo Bicycle
The goal of this project was to create a fully functioning, large capacity, while still agile, cargo bicycle. The prototype was made for a restaurants catering operation and needed to carry their existing cube totes with full trays of food. 

Exploring the opportunities from the ground up, and working with a team to pull off the final product was a fantastic experience. 
Here is the final product with odd sized boxes as cargo.
Dimensions and Angles were chosen to mimic, as much as possible, a standard bicycle feel in maneuverability and pedaling.

Aircraft Grade Chromoly Tubing was used to keep the strength high and the weight low. Here all of the sub assemblies are together and the bike takes shape.
The finished frame is built up with its final components and ready for a test ride. Testing included piling 300 pounds of bricks on the bed and riding down the street. Worked like a charm. 
Traditional cargo bikes in this category do not have top tubes above the cargo, so they can be flexible under heavy load if they are not engineered correctly. We set to maximize the space where the cargo is placed by moving the steering mechanism and lowering the load height.
The steering system uses dual cables and a pulley system designed and produced by Frances Cycles.
Custom designed, water jet cut parts streamlined the production and gives even the prototype a polished look.
