This was my final project of my university course, it was an open project and we could design what we wanted. I chose to focus on creating a brand that could challenge the way people would view or do something and also focus on solving a problem for a social issue. I soon through my research discovered that recycling was a big issue especially in the United Kingdom with a lot of our recyclable waste ending up in landfill and not decomposing for hundreds of years. The UK has one of the worst results when looking at recycling rates in Europe and I tried to think of a solution to change this.

I set up a foundation for this project that was to produce 100% compostable packaging that being thrown out with the food waste would turn back into compost in up to 12 weeks, therefore being a very green business that could help boost the amount of waste we produce. This foundation would work in a similar way to large schemes from before like Fair Trade and Organic foods, being the next big thing to target the retail grocery market. I found brands that supported my foundation and would change their packaging to become compostable.

For this project, I worked on producing a logo and brand symbol. I designed an A3 leaflet that would be sent out to consumers to educate them on why they should switch to compostable packaging at no greater cost. I also designed a few website pages as well as advertising materials. It was a great project to learn more and educate myself on how to make this process viable.
