Here is my diploma. Design of the novel by Gustav Meyrink "Golem". I graduated from St. Petersburg Press Institute and defended this diploma in specialization of graphic artist in 2009. It took a year to create this project, which also took away a lot of time and nerves. I hope all this was not in vain.
The acting of the novel "Golem" is set in a Jewish quarter of Prague. The main character is an artist, stone carver, restorer. He is constantly plagued by visions, nightmares and fears. His friends tell him a legend about Golem - a mystical creature, idol made of clay, which was created by one of Prague rabbis many centuries ago. The hero begins to suffer, because he can not understand who is he. It seems to him that he is the golem.
There are many Kabbalistic signs, symbols and allegories in the novel. I really like a dark atmosphere which shackled the whole story.
In the illustrations I used mixed technique (watercolor, ink with water, charcoal pencil). The book is rather large 290x290 mm. Binding is made of black linen.
