The Kingfisher is a symbol of peace and prosperity. The Kingfisher is the promise of abundance -- its blue plumage is associated with Jupiter, the planet of abundance.
Although I have not been lucky enough to see a Kingfisher on my travels, they hold a special place for me in my heart. My grandad (an amazing oil painter) did a number of Kingfisher paintings and I always looked upon them fondly and with fascination.
