Plus Minus | 3D Print Facade Proposal
With 3d printing, designing negative and positive space can and should be taken into account as one. Milling openings with traditional manufacturing is contradictorily expensive while with additive processes it usually translates into less material and cheaper manufacturing costs.

Plus Minus 3D printed facade tile uses negative and positive space to create a wall facade tile with a double purpose. When used upright, the negative space within the tiles become planters with drains that connect them vertically. If used downright (turned 180 degrees), the triangular surfaces protect the wall from direct solar radiation. The inner negative space create air pockets that allow heat to escape upwards through the drain openings. Since the tile is a square profile, both configurations could also used together.
