Biannual, international festival – National Theatres’ Meeting in Warsaw – presents recent, important theatre plays forged on the national stages. This year it is Swedish, Austrian, French and Lithuanian national theatres. The festival is accompanied by a symposium dedicated to presented plays, their context and creators.
The multilayered visual identity of this festival encompasses several media and stretches along two dimensions: space of the National Theatre and the city of Warsaw; and the time of the festival’s duration.
The starting point for our work was the nature of the four national theatres which constitute this year’s festival and the plays they are presenting. The set of designs we created aimed to announce their coming and escort their meeting in a handsome and coherent manner.
The language we established for the identity is very simple. Four colours correspond to the four national theatres. Basic, flat geometry constitutes the substance of the graphics. Four graphic emblems represent and symbolise the four presented plays. All the designs develop throughout the duration of the festival. Starting from primitive, monochrome compositions, they evolve into more complex pixelated graphics, where a blend of the four colours stands for the meeting taking place.
This year’s identity comprises posters, billboards, flyers, press ads, tickets, website, social media campaign, symposium materials and the festival book.
