We were approached by Malaysian director /actor/ curator Gavin Yap to help come up with a poster campaign to promote the then up-and-coming exhibition entitled "2057" to be held during the month of Malaysia's independence day.
The exhibition style was very pop-culture centered and featured a handful of well-known local artists such as Katun, Kenji Chai, 1000 Tentacles and Ajim Juxta just to name a few. We knew we had to fuse that "feel" with a patriotic tribute to the local Malaysian culture so we came up with a series of posters that poked fun at some of the trends in the urban lifestyle and imagined, visually, what it would be like another 100 years down the evolution timeline.

We were inspired by fading traditions such as the "wau", "teh tarik" and "planting bunga raya (hibiscus - the national flower of Malaysia)", which were all once part of our everyday life but have now "evolved" into a new wave of iconic trends in an urban Malaysian day.
