The project is a book about the natural dyeing of fabrics. It is aimed at anyone interested in learning how to master the technique of natural dyeing including stage designers, costume designers, fashion designers and pattern designers. The publication contains information about various natural dyes which have been used to dye fabrics for hundreds of years. It is accompanied by samples of naturally dyed fabrics. The book is the first publication of its kind in Poland. Synthetic dyes which have taken over the mainstream dyeing market due to its relatively low costs are often dangerous for the environment. Natural dyeing is eco-friendly and not toxic for humans. It fits in perfects with the current trend of upcycling and using local products. Natural dyeing is therefore an attractive alternative to synthetic dyes. Natural fibres were used for the dyeing such as cotton, linen, silk, wool and alpaca (presented in the sampler). The book is covered with hand dyed silk. The insert of the book is printed on Munken Polar Rough paper (120g/m2). Read Less

Natural Dyeing- book and sampler
Design is stepping out of the fast lane, taking the time to appreciate the subtle simplicity, the imperfectness, items made ethically and with integrity. The ancient ways, crafts handed down through generations have become more relevant today and are used by modern day artists in making unique designs. Handcraft is finding a voice, as interest is turning to the traditional craft techniques. This is why, I have designed a book about natural dyes and techniques of dyeing.
