Berlin Wall Game
The Berlin Wall was a symbol of the harsh divide between the belligerents of the Cold War - the capitalist Allied Powers (The United States, United Kingdom, and France) and the communist Soviet Union - the “Axis of Evil”. This game serves to educate the players about the tragedy of the wall and its significance in German history, as well as its eventual destruction, which is regarded as the end of the Cold War.
Gouache painting of West Berlin, divided into each of the Allied Powers' sectors. The underlying collage is made of WWII era newsprint photographs.
I had the privilege of seeing my game in action at the Come Out and Play Festival held by SomArts in San Francisco, CA in November 2012. The game was exhibited in a space called "The Board Game Lounge", where visitors could play and learn while supporting local artists and designers.
