Reconnecting with Nature

A self directed project.
I decided to explore the natural environment and the relationship that a human and a plant has.
One of the highlights from my research was the fact that from generation to generation, the interaction with nature dramatically decreases.
Considering as a problem the lack of appreciation for plants, which leads one way or another, to carelessness and deforesation, I decided that the solution would be to educate children about them.
This project conceptually targets children that live in urban environment and cannot access too many green spaces.

Interactive Garden
A hexagonal mini garden. Each one of the six spaces of the design represent characteristics and behaviors of plants that aid to their survival and evolution. I have categorised them to six basic sections: Pollination, Growth, Photosynthesis, Adaptation, Tropism, Competition.
The user can rotate the structure with the exhibits.
The structure has been designed with consideration to a more interesting way to interact with the audience by combining simple physical interactions that have as a result on-screen events. For instance, when one of the sections of the structure faces one set direction, it automatically plays an animated video that is related.
