This mixed media project uses publicly available vintage Indian portraits and botanical drawings in order to compose minimal contemporary collages. The series explores retrofitting urban and vintage visual elements creating a narrative of Urbintage - where old meets new to create something beautiful. The portraits seen here are a set of gloomy looking expressions on each face and my intent to use these in the collage was to uplift the mood of the image by adding botanical and graphic visual elements of design with solid colours and blocking. Initially the series was created as a design exercise that later to shape into more artworks, followed by being published in an international ensemble of collage artists.
