Last summer, I had the benefit of attending the PENSOLE Footwear Design Academy in Beaverton, OR. Our theme for the 2 weeks was to deliver footwear designs for the 2012 Olympics and represent each of the Nike portfolio brands (i.e. Nike, Umbro, Cole Haan, Converse and Hurley) across the various events.
The catch was that all design iterations needed to be fulfilled using only a No. 2 pencil. This requirement ensured that our ideas would be delivered with utmost clarity without being masked behind photoshop layers and distracting graphics.
I was asked to represent the Jordan Brand and produce a concept for Olympic Sailing. Special thanks to my studio-mate, Nina Viggi, for helping me understand the in's and out's of competitive sailing.
