The room is a temporary place to live just as former apartment were in the cities of China and Japan where I usually spent no more than two years. In places like this, which are different from home, I can't put up decorations and have to keep my stuff always ready to be packed for the time when I will be leaving. In 2016, I started photographing this place. I use what little I have in my room. Point light is used as the only light source in order to cast sharp shadows on the walls. The shadows indicate the landscapes which are not intended to be specific places, but instead compositions of views I remember. The photographs embrace temporality. The shadow disappears once the room light is turned back on as if nobody had ever been there.
