In 2016, a retired Minneapolis police officer and a local Restauranteur purchased an abandoned firehouse, gutted it and opened up the Fighting Chance Boxing Gym.
Free to community members under 18, the gym provides a safe place, where the founders aim to utilize boxing as a tool to help inner city youth learn discipline and compassion, physical fitness and self confidence. Along with boxing equipment and a full ring, the gym includes weights, cardio machines, a community garden and a yoga studio.
