Requirements: design 12 different symbols of two different Egyptian animal Gods, that each features a
different design principle.
I chose to work with the god Anubis and Ibis. Ibis has many possible representations; the ibis was
regarded as one of Thoth's Earthly representatives. In Egyptian mythology, Thoth was the god of the
moon, god of wisdom, the measurer of time, and the inventor of writing and numbers. He is credited
with devising the standard 365-day year. Wearing an ibis mask, with the head of an ibis, a large bird
of the Nile, Egyptians associated the ibis's long curved beak with the moon. In my designs, I explored
the simple shape of the bird that carrying Ibis characters (like long beak, head peace, and human body)
I tried to use the human body, as it’s represent with, but because Ibis has a long beak, result wasn’t
unique enough to work with, I used the head peace instead, and result was better. I used moon to
explore more about him.
Anubis was a funerary god. Anubis is the jackal-headed god of Egypt. His head may actually be a mixture
of dog and jackal, with the body of a man. Anubis was described as being God of the Dead, Tombs and
Embalming. In my design I did the same as I did for Ibis, tried t keep the human body, but it is again
didn’t work very well with the rest, so I skipped the body and concentrate on head and Egyptian hear
peace. To explore more about this God, I concentrate on eyes and tried to explore his in this way.
