BRIEF
During the last decade, water crisis began to rise on the surface ,many scientists and specialists were quoted that the next World War will be due to the lack of water resources , on the other hand the dominate on it .In egypt, the lack of water began to be a national case that every individual should be concerned with . this project aims to be on ECO for the state of life in the country and its needs ,thus, water research center and purification facility was an adequate and a needed asset .as many cities are not aware with the water crisis in egypt. building must be codependent for the current situation of the function its offering.
concept and philosophy
the buildings must contain a mass concerned with the public awareness for the water crisis ,as well as, other mass dedicated for the formal education, both beside the main building and laboratories. by respecting the water edge, the building mass is formed along the water , resulting in the longitudinal proportional in the site.yet as thus, it was important to bring water within the site to split masses visually, resulting successfully in achieving our philosophy in water being the dominant element. The public mass was directed along the main street visually welcoming the public. a bridge over the new water stream connected this mass to the formal educational mass. The masses were divided into three according to each function and its hierarchy of importance. First and most importantly the research center building dominant in size.Second is the educational area where the public learns of ways to save water. And finally the public awareness where scientists experiment and further research the water. Light materials and cool pale colours were used in the elevations to offer and highlight the visual dominance of the water element. Glass and white surfaces will affect the reflective surface of the water and its typology. the building throughout its life cycle must promote for its function. Therefore, the materials used in this building were specifically selected with the main goal of using minimum water. This concept was used to promote the main philosphy of the research center which is water reduction. A modular system was therefore used to facilitate the use of minimal pre-fabricated construction and structural elements mechanically implemented.
