The Brief
For the fifth anniversary of the festival, they wanted a complete revamp of their look and feel. It began life as a small village event but within five years had grown to a popular festival with thousands attending over the weekend. It's located in a village in the Monmouthshire countryside; set against a backdrop of rolling fields, deep green forests and Welsh hills.

I wanted to hint at the beautiful natural surroundings of the festival and the way in which it has grown from a "traditional" village event to something much bigger.

I created the logo from hand-cut type and the illustrations are all hand drawn.
Design Process

The development of the website - as always began with a thorough User Research phase. I ran a series of focus groups with both the festival organisers and a range of festival-goers (from different demographics based around age, festival size preference etc).

I worked to gain insights into behaviours around booking tickets - what persuaded them to book, how easy other booking sites were (or not!) etc, and delivery of information.

Whilst the website was in development, I conducted iterative cycles of testing. From early A/B tests around user journeys, through to feedback and testing of potential visual styles.

The result is an easily navigable site which conveys all pertinent information with a fun, friendly visual language.
Sketchbook Excerpts
Below are a few pages taken from the sketchbook. These examples are during the development of the illustration and layouts.
