Out of all the projects and assignments for my last design class as an undergrad, this was my favorite one to do. For our final, we had to find a radio show from 50's or earlier (as those are public domain) and composite a video portraying the segment of the show we chose with our own illustrations and graphics. I first heard Dinah Shore when I was a preschooler, and finding a whole show dedicated to the 40's singer was exciting for me.
As soon as I heard her sing "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow" in one episode of her show, I knew I had to use this song in my final. I researched 40's fashion styles and winter cards, and incorporated those elements with a faceless, motion-centered character style I've been experimenting with. Animating the different segments was a bit tricky balancing cartooning and realism, but I'm pretty proud of the result.
Requirements for the final:
-use two different font types
-video must be between 60-90 seconds
-must use masks
-has to include color and 3D elements
