The extra-curricular club, Design for America, is a multidisciplinary organization with branches at colleges all over the country. I was team lead for the Sustainable Footwear project at the University of Oregon with four other students. Our focus was the homeless community in Eugene, Oregon. We developed representational models. Four use re-purposed fibers, applicable for different weather conditions, and sole attachments with adjustable straps for any shoe size. The aim was to use materials from the community and to lengthen the lifespan of the donated shoes the homeless have available to them.
