Trilogy Fashion Show

For the DID Fashion Show I was able to come up with the concept of thumbprints based on a quote I was given “Nothing in Fashion is totally new; it is a cycle with reinvention at its core. But the ability to innovate – to create “new” – is developed through strong research application, which is, therefore, an essential skill for a Fashion Designer to have.”
When a fashion designer searches for inspiration, from the 6 themes the fashion students were given, that inspiration touches them in some way and they are then able to create something new. Following that, the designer himself/herself puts a thumbprint of originality on their design and in turn, they become an inspiration for other, future designers, future generations. Thus, I came up with the name “Trilogy” for the brand and the tagline “Know, Create, Inspire”, Knowing the past, Creating the present and Inspiring the future. In the logo, I connected 3 circles in the “o” and “g”, symbolizing the transfer of inspiration from one person to the other. I also created a pattern using fingerprints in the shape of a “cycle with reinvention at its core”. It can be continued on and on, each time with a different pattern being re-invented. The first circle of thumbprints, made up of 6 different thumbprints, each for every theme, symbolising inspiration coming from research, the second circle symbolising a new creation from those thumbprints, representing the designers from the show and the third circle is made from using the same idea but I used a whole finger, which shows the inspiration for other designers to create something new. The font I chose for the logo is Baskerville. It is thought of as a transitional font, perfect for the transfer of inspiration or an evolution of ideas.
Printed Brochures
Business Card with all the fashion designers' names & contact details
Fashion Show ticket printed on heat sensitive paper. Simple design with lots of negative black space for people to put their hands on it and for their thumbprints to come through.
Billboard outside Institute consisting of the fashion show pattern, the thumbprints circle, quite like a dandelion and people are able to print their fingerprints onto it, symbolising a transfer of inspiration. The fingerprints would be placed in illuminous green paint which can also be seen at night. It should attract a lot of attention and because people can create art using their own unique print, I am expecting the billboard to be of great excitement on social media.
Facebook used to set up a game, where people can design a dress using their thumbprints. They can then share their design on facebook and whoever gets most likes would get to see their design walking down the catwalk. This should reach a huge audience due to the fact that people have to like each design, so it would be shared lots of times, therefore the fashion show would become very well recognised.
One of the themes gives to the fashion students to create their collections was Africa, therefore I though of creating an African woman silhouette with big hair made of thumbprints, where people can insert their head and take photos, have fun. A great interaction piece and it shows people that both DID and the fashion show are fun and it would also get a lot of attention on social media as people would probably share their funny photos for others to see.
