Forthe final project in Time Based Media we were assigned to choose a sociallyrelevant issue and take a stand on it. After experiencing living on a large campuswith extreme sexual assault statistics, I decided to build awareness on thistopic. I researched staggering statistics on sexual assault and rape, stenciledthem, and permanently installed them around the city of Detroit byspray-painting them in high-traffic areas. I wanted these statistics to be seeneveryday, and not just in my final video. I chose to have a woman walk pastthese statistics alone and untouched, and then to end up in a bar to emphasizethat these statistics are more common when alcohol is involved rather than downdark alleys.
