We were approached  (we, meaning TuerCo.) by Verónica and Andrea with the idea of using mobile phones (a very private part of our lives) as an exhibition space. The outcome was to be an extension to the on-site exhibition in the framework of  in the framework of Premi Miquel Casablanca 2014, a prize for Spanish artist promoted by Sant Andreu Contemporani.

Our solution was to create a mobile app (iOS and Android) where the exhibitions took place. This app would "take control" of the user's mobile phone and show them what the artists decided as their art piece.

These exhibitions were designed by the artists through a control panel developed by us based on the "Blockly" programming language. In this panel they could set rules consisting of a triggers and actions that activated in the user's phone.

Project developed in collaboration with Veronica Valentini's & Andrea Rodriguez' curatorial project for Sant Andreu Contemporani.

A(p)partment is a mobile application defined as an exhibition space that explores art and technology through the projects of the artists who will be able to control, during a specific time-frame and within certain limits, the mobile phone of those who have the application installed.

A(p)partment delves into how technology actively takes part in art today. The different resources used by the artists to interact with the application gather the conventional and alternative ways of representing and creating art and, in doing so, create an environment for learning and entertainment.

A(p)partment tries to raise questions about how we think about art by exploiting the multimedia capabilities of interactive mobile applications.
