Client – a young family with an energetic and active kid and with plans for the second one.
Task – to create a modern, clear interior, using simple lines and forms, but to avoid the feeling of sterility. To provide an open-space with the possibility to isolate the kitchen from the living room when necessary.
The initial layout had some significant disadvantages: the most important one was the bedroom position right in the middle of apartment, between kitchen and living room. After redevelopment the ex-bedroom became living-room, and ex-living room became children’s room.
The main client’s requirement was to have an open-space with the possibility of separating the kitchen from the living room. So, this option is provided by sliding doors, hidden in the wall when opened. Due to the toned glass the space doesn’t look divided even when the doors are closed.
Another important requirement was to create the children’s room for two kids, even if there is only one for now. We created an interactive and artistic place, which will encourage kids to practice sports, as well as it will develop their creative abilities.
Based on the fact that clients prefer small, cozy bedrooms we divided the initial bedroom space into two zones: the bed zone and the wardrobe zone.
One of major values of the new layout is a private bathroom attached to the master’s bedroom, while the second one is for common use.
The stylistic idea of this project consists in integrating nature into urban space. So it was done using natural textures, such as wood and stone. Also this concept is highlighted by the vertical gardens and the coffee table made of a tree trunk. The mountain landscape together with deer-tables in the children’s room also brings the immensity of nature into this project.
So, we’ve solved a bunch of ergonomic problems, providing a logic and comfortable layout for all the functional zones. We’ve implemented the desired open-space formula in the day zone. Also we’ve managed fitting a wardrobe zone into bedroom. And as a bonus we’ve offered clients their own bathroom – which is not always an affordable luxury in such buildings.
