UT School of Music Band Area Brochure

The UT Band Brochure is the first of a series of "instrumental area" brochures to be created. The areas within the School of Music include Strings, Woodwinds, Percussion, Brass, Bands, Choral, Keyboard, and Opera. Band is unique in that it recruits from inside and outside the School of Music.

The Pride of the Southland Marching Band is infamous in the south. The marching band truly is the pride of the school, with students coming to UT just to be in the band. The history and tradition of the band and UT athletics is a deeply rooted passion for east Tennesseans. For that reason, the marching band is the main feature of this brochure. But the content covers all band performance opportunities available to students.

Since this is the first of several similar brochures, this piece is designed to be a template for the others. They will all have the same solid orange cover with a sidebar on the right naming the area each brochure covers. The right sidebar is specifically placed so that when all the brochures are laid out together, the different area names will be visible, but the stack of brochures will look unified.
The brochure opens to a spread containing a striking image of the marching band on the field. It then opens further to discuss the history of the band and a complete list of all band opportunities at UT.
On the reverse side, when opened up, there is a wide angle view from the stands as the band forms the traditional "T" on the field while the football team runs through to cheering fans. This poster-sized print is meant to wow students and really get them excited to be a part of this experience.
The back spread includes a number of frequently asked questions, along with where to find answers. A few surprising statistics are mixed into the design to keep things interesting.
