Victoria 1975

The train screeched to a halt on Platform 3.
I was in a somber mood to say the least.
What a feast lay on the table in Whitechapel,
When I had arrived to see her that evening.

Good evening, I said politely and threw the door open.
The atmosphere grew eerie soon as I opened my briefcase.
In case there are any doubts - I am a man of small means.
I eat beef chilly beans for brekky and lunch.
The punch landed from out of nowhere. 
You see, I was the unexpected guest.
'Will you be staying for dinner?' she asked,
Alarming Joe - the plumber of my presence.
It would have been a bummer if you catch my drift.
In a small shift, I moved out of the way,
And he landed on his face, on the staircase. 
It was my house after all and he was trying to race. 
I noticed he had no tools on his,
And wondered what broken pipes was he fixing,
Mixing business with leisure. 
With pleasure, I took to my knife,
And cut open my wife and Joe. 
Only in hindsight do I know, 
That the two were going to elope,
And had train tickets to show.

My name is Bill,
And I'm a butcher by trade. 
That bone in your burger,
Could be her shoulder-blade. 

Victoria. Rest in Peace.
