SMART TAP. A UX approach to Product Design

save water, do i need to say this again, you know that, don't you?
but why are you still wasting it?
Security of water has been a known fact for many years now. But although we have all tried, or pretended to try to adapt and change our ways, we have failed to come out of that tunnel. This infact has a lot to do with our own actions and habits, which many a times we find it difficult to alter. And thus like a dog chasing after its own tail, we create our problems and then try to solve it.

Design happens when you start looking at things differently.
i believe in design, and know that it can take advantage of the various problems we face in the world today.

Give it a chance
Act Now
Save water.
THE CONCEPT:
This is a tap that syncs with your dish washing behavior and takes advantage of it. The tap switches on when you’re washing  plates and switches off when you scrub them. This helps you to wash the plates with ease without the need to reach out to the tap everytime to switch it on or off.

HOW IT WORKS

The tap has 3 modes:
1. Power off
2. Free flow
3. Smart mode
In the smart mode a solenoid valve inside the tap controls the flow of water. Appropriate signal is send to the valve based on the position of the scrubber on the soap tray( while rinsing plates) and away from the tray (while scrubbing them)

When the scrubber is placed in the soap tray it blocks an IR beam emitted from the tray. This signals a solenoid valve in the tap to open and let water flow, (and vice versa).

The free flow mode is to bypass the smart mode to let a constant flow of water to run from the tap.
