Sense in Space
[University of Greenwich; Final Major Project - Self Initiated Brief]
Incorporating a graphic message into the architecture of aproject can provide a big message with minimal construction. More importantly, it can also reinforce thespatial definition. Throughout our day to day lives we are surrounded bystructures encroaching in our physical space. How can this be challengedthrough the use of typography and form, in a way which a message can ultimatelyempower the location.

Graphic design and typography share the same theoreticalbase as architecture; they arise from the same mindset and occupy the samevisual landscape. Graphic design repeats in miniature what architecture doesmonumentally.

Using liberating life quotes reflecting on attitude andmorals, within a given location a message can be heard. Structured typographyand stimulating visuals gave me the next visual path; exploring form withinbuildings in aid to discover the experimental grid constructions within.

The use of photography really helped me uncover the essenceof the grid. Highlighting Londonin its prime, the buildings explore angles, shapes and diverse depths. Thesewere the ignition to the idea of exploration among the grids.

The concept of focusing and defocusing within a given areaallowed me to create depth within my images. Using blurred imagery against thecrisp monochromatic visuals worked well in addition to a reinforced grid tocreate contrast. The contemporary collaboration of typefaces gives whispersof an empowered message to the desired location. Layered phrases reinforce themessage to the viewer. The compositions are based upon the deconstructed gridsI depicted from the original stills.
