핸드릭스 커피는 공기 좋은 경기도 용인시 수지구 동천로에 위치한, 스페셜티 원두를 취급하는 작은 까페입니다. 르꼬르동블루 출신의 쉐프가 운영하는 까페로 맛있는 커피는 물론 쉐프만의 다양한 베이커리 및 디저트 메뉴를 맛 볼 수 있습니다. 이름에서부터 알 수 있듯이, 지미 핸드릭스의 음악과 스타일에서 많은 영감을 받았으며, 이는 음악과 미술에도 조예가 깊은 클라이언트의 의도가 많이 반영된 결과입니다.
심볼 형태의 로고는 지미 핸드릭스가 기타를 불에 태웠던 열정을 담아 성냥과 불새를 모티브로 작업하였습니다. 이 불새는 다양한 곳에 상징적으로 사용되었는데, 특히 매장 외부 벽면에 사용된 불새는 메인 사인이 없는 핸드릭스 커피의 또 다른 간판 역할을 해주고 있습니다. 대부분의 모티브 그래픽들은 아메리칸 빈티지 느깜이 물씬 나는 스타일로 작업하였고, 이는 인테리어 컨셉에도 그대로 반영되었습니다. 커피 내리는 모습을 그대로 노출해주는 긴 바 형태의 카운터는 뉴욕 브룩클린의 작은 까페를 떠오르게 하며, 통창문 안쪽으로 과감하게 배치된 ㄷ자 형태의 소파형 좌석은 마치 서부 지역의 고속도로 휴게소를 연상케 합니다. 전반적인 인테리어 컨셉은 미국 서부 지역의 드넓은 사막에서 볼 수 있는 지평선을 재해석한 것으로, 입구에서부터 매장 끝 벽면까지 모든 레이아웃이 길게 뻗어있는 것이 특징입니다.
Hendrix Coffee is a small cafe that handles specialty coffee beans, located in Dongcheon-ro, Suji-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggido. Run by a chef who studied at Le Cordon Bleu, this cafe offers both tasty coffee and a wide variety of bakery and desserts. As you can guess from the name, the cafe was much inspired by the music and style of Jimi Hendrix, and this also reflects the client’s profound interest in music and art.
The logo was created based on a match and firebird, inspired by Jimi Handrix’s passion for guitar. The firebird motif was used symbolically in various places, especially on the external wall of the cafe where it acts as a signboard for Hendrix Coffee, which does not have a main sign. Most graphic works were done to give a vintage feel, which is also seen in the interior design. The counter, designed in a bar style that is often found in small cafes in Brooklyn, New York, allows you to watch the barista brew coffee, while the sofa seats arranged in an open square layout reminds you of a highway rest area in the West. The overall interior design was based on reinterpretation of a wide horizon you can see in a dessert in the Western US, and is characterized by the straight layout spanning from the entrance to the wall at the end of the store.
