Social Justice Coalition: Campaign for Safe Communities

The campaign video features 10 year-old Thandi in better allowing the viewer to make an emotional, narrative attachment to crime-related statistics in Khayelitsha.
The campaign video breaks down complex crime issues such as vigilante justice, violence and sexual assault.
While linking the content to police apathy without making any sweeping accusations and highlighting a lack of capacity in law enforcement in the community.
The objective was to allow people, who otherwise do not live in Khayeltisha, to identify and act on issues surrounding policing currently facing the community, giving them the opportunity to 'walk in the shoes' of a child having to confront issues regarding security on a daily basis.
While presenting facts and statistics.
The campaign video was published online and on Youtube with direct links to a web petition drive.
The final animation represented a collaboration between myself, a 3D animator, a composer and a copywriter.
