Impossible Rocket: 3D Printers
Design Assets
By their very nature, human beings are always looking for new ways to express themselves. With 3D printing, they’re crafting beautiful art and design that fuses both 3D modeling and traditional finishes. Who knows what they’ll create next. The maker movement is empowering people across the globe to make things for themselves. Functional things. Beautiful things. Or just plain funny things. That’s the joy of 3D printing – it’ll take you anywhere. Artist Joshua Harker says “Now, we can make the unmakeable.”
Impossible Rocket’s compact design lets you quickly and easily print smaller objects. But of course, you can always create larger multipart models too. Throw in its incredible accuracy and reliability, and it’s a recipe for pure imagination. Whatever your ambition, however large or small your project there’s an Impossible Rocket: 3D printer ready to realize your vision.
Product Design:
This was created as an example of the simplicity of the product assembly. It helps to communicate the ease of use of the product to the consumer in an industry fraught with overly complicated products.
Packaging:
In creating the packaging for this brand it was important that the packaging set itself apart from the moment that consumers first hold it in their hand. It's design is intended to provide a sense of the purity of the future that is held within this box.
Brand Pitch:
Early on during the planning stages for this brand it was important to communicate my design ideas for the brand. While still frame moodboards can convey this message it is difficult for them to convey tone. The creation of this pitch was to provide the hypothetical client with the information and design ideas. In this way I was also able to communicate the tone of the campaign simultaneously.
Logo Design Assets: Pg. 2
As with any design work it is important to clearly communicate the specifics of the design work. In page one we communicate the logo in its full color representation. This page also shows the client a further breakdown of the logo and its various elements and uses.
Logo Design Assets: Pg. 2
On the second Page it was important to show the versatility this mark offers beyond the full color format. The intention of this design was to show that the mark could be easily simplified to be used in different media applications but also could be simplified as a cost cutting measure as well.
Logo Design Assets: Pg. 3
Page three is designed both as a continuation of page two by showing the specifics of the application of a transparent mark to me used as a watermark in images and video applications. As with any design it was also important to clearly state the brands pallette of colors and their value. To communicate both ideas on this page the transparent mark was also placed over the individual brand colors to give an idea of its versatility.
Animated Logo:
To further assist the client in seeing the vision for the brand it was, as with the pitch, essential to add greater dimension to the presentation. For that reason an animated logo was created to show the fun, funky, and futuristic nature that brand would represent.
Mobile App Assets:
As a part of the creation of this brand it was important that the brand also embrace the portable nature of its design and make further use of the mobile devices that are necessary for its operations. This meant that mobile applications became a necessary part of the design. While these are rudimentary designs for the 3D Scanner App, Satellite, they were meant to help the client visualize the basic structure of the UI.
Mobile App Assets: Continued
This design process was further refined and the final image is meant to provide a graphic representation of the app as it might appear on any device. Each of these screens is designed as a representation of the 3 apps that were designed and the UI presented in each app.
Banner Ads:
Through research it was decided that the brand would interact with its customers through digital interactions mainly. This was decided based on demographics research that showed that the majority of 3d printer users purchased their devices online and also spent a great deal of their free time online as well. To that end simple digital and social media banners were created to succinctly communicate the brands message no matter the platform.
Vision Book:
throughout the design process a great deal of information and content is created and the view of the brand as a whole can be lost. The creation of the Vision book was designed as a way for anyone to be able to pick up the book and understand what the brand is all about.
Vision Book Cover:
With this design the intention was to give the reader the impression of the unlimited possibilities of the impossible rocket brand even before they know what it is. Image of the vastness of space communicates just that while maintaining the futuristic qualities that the brand represents.
Vision Book: Pg. 14
The countdown to launch theme is carried throughout the vision book as both a representation of the impact brand will have and as a literal countdown to the launch of the brand. To do this we continued the space imagery now seen through the numbers of our countdown. This paired with quotes that are representative of the spirit of the brand help to build excitement as the reader moves through the book.
Vision Book: Pg. 3
At times it is easy to get lost in the design process and not clearly communicate with your audience what your product is or what it does or to do so without hitting them over the head with it. To assist with the communication of the concept of 3D printing it became necessary to include some 3D designs. These models that were used are all representative of items that can be 3d printed. They are also there as a continuance of the theme of the rocket launch while communicating brand colors as well.
By their very nature, human beings are always looking for new ways to express themselves. With 3D printing, they’re crafting beautiful art and design that fuses both 3D modeling and traditional finishes. Who knows what they’ll create next.
