Ambulia Text began from new design processes: starting from hand-sketches, experimentation in calligraphy, and most importantly learning from some of the kindest type designers as teachers.

This typeface began its life as my final project as a Type@Cooper Summer Condensed 2015 student. I was taught by Type Network type designer and Cooper Union Associate professor Hannes Famira, calligraphy master Ewan Clayton, and Hoefler & Co.font Designer Andy Clymer. While I was in New York, Christian Schwartz, Dan Rhattigan, Troy Leinster, and Tobias Frere-Jones gave it a look. The final guest critique was by Johnathan Hoefler.

After I graduated from Type@Cooper, I was hired as a font design intern and graphic design contractor for The Font Bureau and Type Network. During my font design internship, I was mentored by Cyrus Highsmith, and he generously gave his time to help me with Ambulia.
