Marketing Express

I met marketing specialists Linda and Ira Distenfield, owners of Marketing Express, through another client in Santa Barbara County in 2011. Linda and Ira were in the process of expanding Marketing Express in a new location where they planned to have additional in-house employees and provide a wider range of services to local small businesses. During the transition, they were in need of someone to revamp their corporate identity and assist as needed with projects for existing clients. That's where I came in...
AN UPDATED IDENTITY
The first order of business was to polish their identity. Linda and Ira provided a previous version of their logo. They wanted to maintain a similar aesthetic, but the logo was in need of finess. I worked with them to create a logo that was more dynamic and memorable. We kept the diagonal aesthetic that they liked from the original logo, while creating a clean, striking, and well balanced arrangement for a stronger presentation.
Next, business cards and envelopes were created based on their updated identity. We played with the idea of creating caricatures of the marketing team, but they ultimately decided that they were not comfortable with that route. In the end, I just created a business card template that was clean, simple, bold, and flexible.
I designed a 5" x 5.5" newspaper ad and a half-page magazine ad, using their desired colors, to help them launch their new location. During the course of the transition, and over the next year, I also handled jobs for ME clients through Flight 19 while they finalized their own staffing arrangements in Santa Barbara.
Splash screen created to direct new ME clients during web construction.
Magazine Ads
A half-page magazine ad for ME client Pybrum & Co; which was desiged for inclusion in the local POLO magazine.
3.33 in. x 2.14 in. phonebook ad for ME client Pybrum & Co; layout completed with image and logo files provided by the client.
Two half-page magazine ads for ME client L.M. Caldwell.
IDENTITY
During the time that Flight 19 was providing services to ME, I also designed identity pieces, including logos and business cards, for ME clients.
One ME client needed a logo for their new golfing product, the DRT CLAW. After a few rounds and revisions, we succeeded in creating a logo that was clean and eye catching. The client requested that I also complete color and background mockups to assist them with packaging design decisions.
Some of the business cards I created for ME clients included these designs for; Gracie Charitable Foundation, Santa Barbara Homes & Land, and Santa Barbara Hacker Space.
COLLATERAL
Postcard layout for ME client, Santa Barbara Auto Stereo & Wireless, based on specs provided by the client.
Rack card design and layout for ME client, Alliance for Living and Dying Well.
SIGNAGE
One of the larger projects I completed for an ME client was the creation of vector art based on the Santa Barbara Police Foundation badge...
...and subsequently, a 6 foot banner for their annual event.
Event signage for the Santa Barbara Surgery Center.
ME PRODUCTIONS
Other work completed for ME included materials for sister-company ME Productions.
Two versions of a two-sided program sheet for "ON DUTY," a local television program created by ME Productions.
A 24 x 36 in. poster that was in progress for "ON DUTY," a local television program created by ME Productions. This project was unfinished, as the client decided it was no longer needed; but, I still enjoyed working on it!
