Publication that reflects on the work and the position of the designer as an agent immersed in the production system. It maintains a vision of present and future and proposes to treat the designer as a translator. The designer doesn’t formalise, he translates: he transfers the message of the content to the form, performing a translation from verbal language to media language.
The concept of rhizome is rescued in order to convert the book into a rhizome system. This system acts as a metaphor of the contemporary graphic communication that prevails today, a system characterised by the construction of messages from fragmentary, individual and uncontrollable elements that can have any connection with each other.
Facing the excessive noise caused by this fragmentary communication a minimal gesture is made, a gesture that changes the way of perceiving the world, which is converted and transformed. Instead of seeing it as noise, it is seeing as silence. It transforms a closed world into an open world. The contemporary human being is in a world of visual silence in which anything can happen and in which any dependency can be produce. And it is at that moment when dependencies that don’t go unnoticed become more important.
The speech is articulated from fragments that can establish dependencies with each other in various ways. For this, the object book is built in a fragmentary way through a random system that arranges the individual fragments differently, creating various read orders and unique points of view. By this way the limits of the book are explored trying to transform its discursive linearity into a rhizome in which there is no order or hierarchy, no beginning neither end or, on the contrary, there are several beginnings and several endings.
