The Locative Art application is specially designed for the iPhone but will technically also work with other smartphones using the Android system the layar application is currently used for displaying the art. The interface, therefore, refers to and matches the original layar interface. The technique behind the art pieces comes from what is also known as augmented reality. Augmented reality (AR) is a live, direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data.
The illustrations show the concept, technical requirements and interface design for the app based on the layar functionality, everything in the concept stage.
