Ode aan het DOE Theater/ Ode to the Do Theater

10 years NVMS
The National School of music had it’s 10 year anniversary and did a tribute to the pioneers of theater, named the Do Theater. They dedicated a play with actors of this generation, combining the most famous plays of the Do Theater during their 13year run (1970-1983)  into one piece with a new look and feel but staying true to its origins.
STAS International was asked to take on everything in terms of set/stage design and marketing and strategy for this campaign.

It was my job to do the design part.
This is the logo of National School of music
Logo Design
I first started playing around with the '10' of their 10 year anniversary.
Typically including musical elements but in a less cliche way.

It was clear me to that I wanted to used dark gray and black backgrounds with smoke, as both elements represented theatre.
This is the result.
After that I set the type by playing with different fonts.
Masks/ Icon
As supporting element I designed a mask combined of 4 different traditional masks. Each mask represents one of the main nationalities of our country Suriname, South America.
Mainly: Javanese, Hindi/ Indian, African and Native American.

Teasers
We started the campaign with some teasers mainly as promo on Facebook.
Cover image on Facebook
Event image on Facebook. Here I started to use pictures from the rehearsals.

Posters and Banners
