Safety Communications: Making Safety Memorable

Safety communications that are memorable, fun, and emotional.
Helping 100,000+ Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Cast Members make safe decisions every day.

Below are a series of creative safety communications highlights. All content is (C)Disney, reproduced here with permission for the purpose of providing professional work samples.
"Safe D Begins with Me" is the internal safety brand of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Incorporating the "D" shape of Disney, I acted as the brand manager, supporting the consistent use of color, design, placement, and appropriate messaging.
Safety Database "Commercial"
When approached with the request for a pro/con video for the launch of a new safety database system, an informative and entertaining prescription-drug style advertisement was produced.

The Safety Focus of the Week
The Safety Focus of the Week is the core communication that addresses all high frequency safety incidents. Reaching a global audience of more than 100,000 employees, the Safety Focus of the Week is published in 5 languages and proactively keeps safety top of mind.
The Safety Focus of the Week includes assets for employees and leaders to keep safety top of mind such as talking points for leaders, a customizable template, a poster, and graphics designed to fit the company intranet system and other digital signage.
Each fall, I held an ideation session in which managers from across Walt Disney Parks and Resorts would come together to contribute to the next yearly calendar. The result was a calendar with great creative diversity that also addressed high frequency incidents.
Safety Collateral
To help keep safety messages top of mind, collateral was produced in sizes and forms to help it 'stick' around.
Collateral shown includes a printed yearly calendar of the Safety Focus of the Week, featuring winning Cast Members' drawings from a safety tip drawing challenge, a DVD series of Safety Infomercials, a magnet with tips of fire safety, and a window cling reminding Cast Members not to text while driving.  Pocket cards, bookmarks, and handbooks were also frequently produced.
