A collection of sketches and renderings based on my research of historic precedents
The following images capture my research, analysis, and graphic reproduction of historic building precedents. All drawings were produced by hand using either pencil, ink on mylar, or watercolor during my undergrad education at The University of Notre Dame's School of Architecture. As the first step of any design process, we learned the importance of studying precedents, or historic examples of how similar design challenges were approached either successfully or unsuccessfully. Not only did we read about and collect images of architectural precedents, but also reproduced drawings and written analsyis of each study with as much care in presentation as if it were our own final design drawings.
