This illustration is inserted in a collaboration between Portuguese illustrators and the NGO Ajudaris in Portugal that help families in need. The story is written by the young students of a Portuguese school and my job was to illustrate it. 

In the end all stories and illustrations will be compiled in a publication where all profit will go to the help of families and children in difficult situations. 

"A Tale in movement"

Once upon a time there was a super-hero, very muscular, named Mr. Potato. 

One day, he decided to walk his dog, Cabbage Foot Short, by the River Sorraia. On his way he found his friend Turnip who walked very slowly due to his excess weight, unhealthy nutrition and also for being a heavy smoker.He sighted and sighted... and his lungs become increasingly hill. Black as coal!!!...
Seeing his friend in this suffering, Mr. Potato and Mrs. Carrot, gave him some advice to improve his health!

In the meantime, a noise was heard in the distance coming from the forest. Very curious, they found that it was only an owl, already known as "Know It All". He had studied in the Basic School of Coruche... Herein, they had an idea! What if we were to forest to pick up berries? Mr. Potato said. All agreed. The friends continued their search through the forest and found nuts, mushrooms, hazelnuts, blueberries... They kept everything so that later they would share a snack.

Mr. Potato, also proposed to find more food and remembered going to his farm's friend, because it was very close. There, they met three friends: Mr. Tomato, Mrs. Kale and Mr. Broccoli. Radiant, the friends talked, enjoyed themselves a lot and finally thought of a plan. It was then, that all came together and made a decision: to help families in need. And together, they decided it was time to share and offer healthy food because the holiday season was approaching.

They put their hands to work.

They were off on tractors and distributed food to the various villages and county towns.
Children got to see the tractors and shouted in joy!!!...
Along the way, they passed by the farm of their friend Ti Chico, a farmer. As soon as they saw him, they ran to him to talk. Ti Chico explained them what he was cultivating and brought them into the garden to savor some strawberries. Umh! ... That's tasty! It's so sweet!
"Ti Chico", calmly and patiently explained to them that "organic farming" is agriculture that uses no chemicals for the vegetables and fruits to grow faster.

2º year of the Grouping of Schools of Coruche

“Conto em Movimento”

Era uma vez um super-herói, muito musculado, que se chamava sr. Batata.

Um dia, resolveu ir passear o seu cão, Repolho Pé Curto, à beira do rio Sorraia. Pelo caminho, encontrou o amigo Nabo que caminhava muito lentamente, devido ao seu excesso de peso, alimentação nada saudável e também por ser um grande fumador. Suspirava…suspirava…e os seus pulmões a ficarem cada vez mais doentes. Pretos como o carvão!!!...

Ao ver o amigo neste sofrimento, o sr. Batata e a srª Cenoura, deram-lhe alguns conselhos para melhorar a sua saúde!

Entretanto, ouviu-se ao longe um barulho vindo da floresta. Muito curiosos, descobriram que era só uma coruja, já conhecida como, coruja “Sabe Tudo”. Já tinha andado na escola Básica de Coruche… Nisto, ocorreu-lhes então uma ideia! E se fossemos à floresta apanhar frutos silvestres? Disse o sr. Batata. Todos concordaram. Os amigos continuaram a sua busca pela floresta e encontraram nozes, cogumelos, avelãs, mirtilos …Guardaram tudo para mais tarde fazerem um lanche partilhado.

O sr. Batata, propôs ainda encontrarem mais alimentos e lembrou-se de irem à quinta do seu amigo, pois era ali bem pertinho. Lá, encontraram mais três amigos: o sr.Tomate, a srª Couve e o sr. Brócolo. Radiantes, os amigos conversaram, divertiram-se imenso e finalmente pensaram num plano. Foi aí, que todos se reuniram e tomaram uma decisão: ajudar famílias carenciadas. E juntos, decidiram que estava na hora de partilhar e oferecer comida saudável, pois a época natalícia vinha a aproximar-se.

Puseram mãos ao trabalho.

Partiram em tratores e, distribuíram-se pelas várias aldeias e vilas do concelho.

As crianças ao verem chegar os tratores, gritavam de alegria!!!...

Durante o percurso, passaram pela quinta do amigo Ti Chico, um agricultor. Assim que o viram, correram para conversar. O Ti Chico explicou – lhes o que andava a cultivar e levou-os à horta para saborearem uns moranguitos. Umh!... que gostoso! É tão docinho!

O “Ti Chico”, com muita calma e paciência, explicou-lhes que “agricultura biológica” é a agricultura que não utiliza produtos químicos para que os legumes e frutos cresçam mais depressa.
