Currently serving as the senior area manager at Citywide Home Loans, Gavin Ekstrom is also a supporter of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA).
In 2012, the BCGA thanked actor Denzel Washington for 20 years of service as the organization’s spokesperson. Washington joined the Mount Vernon clubhouse in New York as a child in 1960, where he played sports, learned about woodworking, and made friends. In 1993, he filmed a public service announcement for the BCGA honoring Billy Thomas, the director of the Mount Vernon club when Washington was there.
The Academy Award-winning actor was inducted into the Hall of Fame for BCGA Alumni in 1993 and was awarded the organization’s Herbert Hoover Humanitarian Award in 2004. Washington still serves as a member of the BCGA board.
