Tyrone Hashimoto is the name.
The theme's description was as follows:
"This is a story of loyalty, sacrifice, persistence, and honour. A samurai is on a journey to rescue the lovely Sudo Magodo,
a geisha who has been kidnapped from the palace of his daimyo Mashiro Tamigi, his feudal lord. His heartbroken master has promised to commit seppuku (the ritual Japanese suicide) if his beloved lover will not be returned to him. With the help of the chief guard of the palace and loyal friend Fatu Nakazata, the fearless samurai will resolve this once and for all by fighting the bandit and kidnapper Pokoto Pokoto and his evil henchmen to the death...''

Choosing a male samurai, I needed the character to have an edge, mixing some genres, and adding some anachronism.
The concept was visualized as a black man adopted as a child to this secretive and powerful Japanese clan.

The 1st version.
The 1st one was a static pose and silhouette study.
However, some ideas were beginning to show up; like the dreadlocks, sun glasses, and mostly: cybernetic arms.

The 2nd version.
The 2nd one was a study of a more dynamic pose and settling on the attire and its interaction with the movement.
The 3rd version.
A spread sheet of the concept development. Note the addition of high-tech features; like the energy supply in the chest armour. Also, the facial features became less cartoony.
The final version was made solely with pencils of different tips and erasing unneeded lines to emulate the same motion effect that was with the character from the beginning
Tyrone Hashimoto survived an attack that claimed his arms & took his wife for the Tyrant Lord. Now, equipped with new skills and technology, Tyrone-San shall reclaim his love and honour.
