A revolution anchored in heritage
-
L’Ecole de Communication Visuelle (ECV) is a French independent school of graphic design. Since more than 30 years, the school originally based in Paris developed in 4 major cities of the country: Lille, Nantes, Bordeaux and Aix-en-Provence; and become the largest network of pros’ graphic designers.
4uatre accompanied the school founders and their team to define ECV’s positioning, manifesto, signature and brand architecture.
To assert its authority and its dynamism, we kept the name of the school as an acronym - leaving an obsolete wording away while keeping it’s roots intact. The signature that comes along embodies the school’s difference: to foster a wide creative community (from professors to students, at school and beyond)
Based on the strategic work accomplished, and on a key lesson from the school to its students: “play and reinvent from simple forms”, 4uatre redefined its brand identity based on the circle, an iconic symbol of the school’s historic logotype.
With simple forms, frank colours, transparency games, this identity goes from boldness to finesse, from maximum impact to subtle presence, enabling the school to receive various types of contents, like students artworks.
Designing a design school identity is a huge challenge but we did it to the fullest!
