Street Friends - Supervised Project

Street Friends is a characters design project that inspired by thai street foods.
Pad Pad (inspired from Pad-Thai noodle)
“Guay Tiew Pad” is the old name of “Pad Thai”. Pad Thai came in the period of Field Marshal Plaek Pibulsongkram in order fulfil the nationalist campaign and to decrease of rice consumption due to the rising up of the price. Pad Thai was adapted from Chinese food into the taste of Thai food. The main ingredients are eggs, fish sauce, tamarind juice, chilli, bean sprouts and shrimps. Chan Noodle is commonly used as the main ingredients also narrow rice noodles and cellophane noodle. Pad Thai is commonly goes along with oyster omelette because of using the same ingredients.
KO PEE (inspired from thai traditional coffee)
Thai traditional coffee has brought from Chinese migration in the area surrounded by Chinese merchants who sell coffee. In an early period, Chinese merchants will sail boat along the canal and then move to sell on the ground near where they were settle. An outstanding of Thai traditional coffee is the procedures of it, they first bring dipper and pour hot water in tea or coffee filter and then to the glass. They later use trolley to sell coffee. Besides coffee, there’re also tea and cocoa and etc.  
PA YA (inspired from Som tum)
“Som Tam” or “Papaya salad” is popular food. In the North Eastern part of Thailand, Som Tum was called as “Tum Buk Hoong”. It’s not clear of where it came from. Som Tum is not originated from North Eastern or Laos but it is new food because papaya, as the main ingredient, was from Malaysia in the period of Vietnam war. Thai government brought papaya trees to decorate along Mittraphab road which leads papaya spread out through North Eastern Provinces and became Som Tum until today.
Munch & Ko (inspired from mango with sticky rice)
“Khaoniew Mamuang" or “Mango with Sticky Rice” is a Thai dessert which is so much popular during summer. Sticky rice called as “Khaoniew Moon” was made from Glutinous Rice, the thickest part of coconut cream, salt and white sugar. It’ll go together with ripe mangoes, the most popular kind of mango is Okrong and Namdokmai. It will be served with sticky rice with coconut milk and nuts on top.
PIG PAG (inspired from mhoo ping)
“Mhoo Ping” is marinated pork roasted on charcoal brazier or electric stove. Mhoo Ping is commonly eat with sticky rice. The fascinating of Mhoo Ping is the common delicious taste. It’s the food that suit with the rush hour because of its convenience when buying which make it’s one of popular rush-hour-meal. It leads to many major traders to start up their business and send to minor traders to sell it out.
PIG PAG (inspired from mhoo ping)
Thailand is the land full of rice field. Rice becomes the main ingredient both Thai food and dessert. There’re some evidences that “Kanom Krok" were spread in Ayuthaya period. Kanom Krok were made of flour, sugar and coconut milk. Some people adapt by adding shrimp, egg, pork, taro, corn and spring onion. Kanom Krok are also found in some Asian countries such as Myanmar, Laos, India and Indonesia.
