Planted - Growing Connections was an answer to a university design brief inspired by a conceptual competition presented by Haworth Inc. The brief was to create a concept for Future Wellness-Centred Workplaces, and could focus on one of five areas: Biophilia, Mindfulness, Real Talk, Movement, or Social.

Planted focused on biophilia and bringing the outside indoors, creating a workspace that relied on a planted system, and where plants wouldn't just become an ornament or a nuisance but an integral part of the entire system and workplace. The idea is that the planters don't require the work-surface, but the work-surface requires the planter to provide support and the structure.

The planters also hold the potential and versatility to not only be part of a desk system, but also to dictate the office landscape and environment by forming the overall design and organisation of the office layout by creating rooms of differing sizes for varying purposes.

[This project was entered and presented to members of the Haworth Asia Pacific design team, however due to lack of interest amongst the approached universities in New Zealand and Australia, there was no further outcome than the chance to participate.]
