My Materials Experience - Prototype Collection

On the course of my bachelor studies I worked on the creation of pieces of models that involved so much work and effort that they all became a family. They all have the soul that me (sometimes with colleagues) have transmitted to them while building them.

This is because at UIS Design School is almost a rule to build a prototype for every project, and we have special subjects focused on this aspect. Students learn to build physical working models of their ideas on a wide range of materials, coming from cardboard to organic fibers. Although this fact can be seen as a challenge, since ideas must be somehow executable, it becomes a way of thinking so useful in the design world.

We learn to find the way to build/simulate/imitate/create our ideas, while experiencing the different properties materials and process have. We get to know the stores, the producers, the plants, workshops, machines... all the steps on the production cycle get covered in our way to build our model.

My experience studying abroad have shown me how unique is this experience, that’s why I decided to come back to my files and build a compilation of the most remarkable prototypes I made.
