"Water" CD Package
"Water" is the self-titled album for the hypothetical band of the same name. The theme of the project was to create a comprehensive CD package for a band, using imagery not classically or automatically associated with the idea of water, but still speaking somehow to its essential qualities as an element. To do this, I chose to juxtapose images of the world with and without water, showing its life-giving qualities as well as its ability to take away life in its absence.
The package includes a full 12-page booklet insert (with two pages printed on vellum, giving them a slightly translucent quality), a design for the CD itself, and front, back, inside, and spine designs for the package itself.
All the designs were created using stock photography and a friend's handwriting I scanned and manipulated. The "songs" are all poems by Rainer Maria Rilke.
I did all the printing, cutting, and assembling of the actual package myself, along with the design work.
