Freret Neighborhood Cultural Center and Dormitories
The Latin House is located in the Freret Street neighborhood and serves as an extension of Tulane University within the community. There is a library at the street level and a two-story gallery that features Meso-American Pre-Columbian Artifacts. Larger sculptures are displayed on the street corner plinth and the inner courtyard. 10 visiting scholar dormitories look down on the block fromthe third floor and a faculty apartment is situated on the back end of the second floor. Residents have an intimate experiencewith the people and pieces around them because of the unique possitioning of the public and private parts of the program. A glass cube, which serves as the kitchen and dining space, is the main focal point of the building and promotes social interaction.
