The American Marketing Association, AMA, reached out to Ink Factory earlier this year to design a timeline of 100 years of the AMA. They wanted a creative solution that celebrated their new branding for a bank of elevators that open up to their new HQ in the heart of downtown Chicago.
We were very excited to get to contribute to their already beautiful and innovative space.
We worked with a great team from AMA that spanned two time zones, and collaborated with them to honor their brand and aesthetic. The timeline celebrated major events from the 100 years of history of the AMA. Our creative team was able to transform each milestone into an engaging illustration, which was then combined with a patterned background full of AMA imagery. The final artwork was printed on a sturdy vinyl wallpaper, applied to the wall, and framed with moulding.
The mural is the first thing visitors see when the elevator doors open on the 22nd floor.
Each visual was strongly influenced by the visual trends of that era. It was a challenge to keep the style and color palette cohesive when we had such a broad timeline and a huge range of visual aesthetics to work with. We pulled typographic styles, fashion trends, and technology from each era to give the illustrations a firm place in history.
