Monkey with the Long Long Tail

After being assigned to create self portrait, I decided to use wax and pigment to create The Monkey with the Long Long Tail. When I was younger, my grandfather would tell my sister and I stories of the monkey exploring and going on hundreds of adventures. As I got older, I learned that my dad had also been told the of the monkeys travels, and that my grandfather had created the character to represent him and to encourage him to explore. For this reason, I chose to animate the monkey as I began to see the stories about him as a reflection of my family.
