Runner's World magazine // personal RETROspective
This was my first big job I designed at Steve Phillips Design. I must have comped off about 400 variations of this masthead back in the old cut & paste days. Wouldn't you know they chose the corniest design? - go figure.

The design incorporated a flexible grid structure, innovative use of white space and tight typographic standards. The publisher remained true to integrity of the design until they combined with another publication in 2004.

The tiny little runner I drew was on the cover of the magazine for 23 years - until the magazine merged with another publication and rebranded.

I'll never forget the day my first cover hit the stands...it was the first issue of the redesign.
