Road To Hana | Leather Handbags inspired by Naive Art

Road To HANA

Desinging the new collection was truly a long Road… It has begun with meeting an inspiring young woman called Fruzsi Petro, whose personality and attributes are the definiton of a TIMROSE WOMAN.

I have been following her since I’ve found her sister’s blog about beauty, at that time she was making outfit posts.
I’ve really liked the idea of working together, collaborating on a new project.
First I was only thinking about her being my model on a photoshoot, because her overall style and beauty was so refreshing to me.
Little did I know that she’s a jewelry maker, and I saw some of her creations, they were terrific!

So I was really into foliage at the beginning of summer, and all I could think about was: how can I transfer that into a different context, like leather bags?

We’ve brainstormed a couple of times and agreed on a tropical theme, as summer started to show some serious heat…
With that in mind, a beautiful vegtan nude leather and some color punched green leaves were option one, with really simple leafy jewelry.
As our designing process evolved, we’ve added more and cleared out the excess, and than we added more… I pictured nude leather bags with handpainted details on them, like those naive artist paintings with jungles and deformed leopards.

On a hunt for high quality leather about a month ago at the store we found a gorgeuos orange-y, meat colored leather that we just couldn’t let go, so we ditched option one. Paired it up with super soft hunter green sheepskin, and snake printed cowhides, and a really girly metallic pink cowhide…

With our new selection of leather, we’ve redesinged the jewelries.
We aimed for simple curved earrings with a significant stone attached to them.

The end of the this road we have arrived to …HANA.
